SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program

The Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP) provides critical funding to community organizations that deliver suicide prevention services to Veterans and their families. This initiative is a cornerstone of VA's commitment to addressing Veteran suicide through community-based approaches.

This grant is designed to ensure no veteran slips through the cracks by providing comprehensive and accessible support options.

About the Grant

Eligibility

  • Grant Purpose: Connect eligible veterans and active duty service members to mental health care services through the VA.
  • If VA services are declined, Clear Path offers alternatives:

    Community-Based Mental Health Care
    Peer Support
    Wellness Services
    Temporary Financial Assistance and
    other essential resources.
  • Eligibility is determined through the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (CSSR-S) screening.
  • Screening Details: Anyone who screens positively for suicidality is eligible, regardless of risk level (low, moderate, or high risk). Different protocols are in place for each risk level to ensure tailored care
  • Post-Screening Process: A Navigation Coordinator conducts five baseline mental health assessments prior to program enrollment.
