Clear Path for Veterans Golf Course

The Clear Path for Veterans Golf Course (CPVGC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit golf facility located in the rolling hills of Chittenango (the entrance to the course is just down the road from Clear Path's main building - 1281 Salt Springs Road). It is a Robert Trent Jones’-designed 9-hole layout established in 1961. Located within Madison County, CPVGC borders Onondaga County, and is situated on 167 acres of wooded land with the golf course encompassing approximately 40 acres.

CPVGC is a public golf course and proudly offers complimentary greens fees to Veterans and active service members of all eras. The golf course maintenance and daily operations staff are comprised entirely of Veterans and members of the community. Its mission is to provide an environment of education, respect, healing and safety through the game of golf to all Veterans and active service members. Our vision is that through a shared desire to give back, Veterans and community volunteers will take personal and group ownership of CPVGC’s common goals and tasks. Open to the community, 100 percent of all donations go to support Clear Path for Veterans’ programs and services.

The playing yardage is 2,715 yards from the blue tees, and with an elevation of 940 feet offers golfers beautiful views looking north, overlooking Oneida Lake and beyond to the foothills of the Adirondacks. The course offers golfers of all levels of play a challenging opportunity to grow their game while providing Veterans with a healthy outlet connecting them to the broader community.

The Clear Path for Veterans Golf Course (which was formerly The Ridge Golf Club, a for-profit business). With the assumption of operation by Clear Path, all proceeds from the golf course help provide funding for programs and services at Clear Path to more than 18,000 Veterans and their families each year. The Ridge restaurant remains a for-profit entity and its special events are wholly independent from Clear Path for Veterans.

The 2017 summer hours for the golf course are:

  • Mondays - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday through Friday - 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays - 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sundays - 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The primary focus of the Warrior Golf Program is to increase Veteran engagement in Clear Path for Veterans’ programming, engage the broader community through outreach/public play and enhance peer support, and to create a healthy outlet for Veterans. The Warrior Golf Program includes eight (8) weeks of lessons, Wellness Reset to introduce self-care, rules of golf and etiquette, and participation (upon graduation) in tournaments benefiting Clear Path for Veterans.
